According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Toronto Maple Leafs have traded defenceman Travis Dermott to the Vancouver Canucks, with Pierre LeBrun adding that the return is a third round pick.

Dermott, 25, was in his fifth season with the Maple Leafs. In 43 games this season, he has five points (one goal, four assists), fourteen penalty minutes and is a plus-four.

This trade comes as the Vancouver Canucks have just moved out a defenceman, with Travis Hamonic heading to the Ottawa Senators. The Maple Leafs for their part needed to move out a body on the blueline to make room for the arrival of defenceman Mark Giordano from the Seattle Kraken.
