According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, the Ottawa Senators have acquired defenceman Travis Hamonic from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 2022 third round pick.

Hamonic, 31, has appeared in 24 games this season for the Canucks, tallying seven points (three goals, four assists), six penalty minutes, and is a plus-one.

The St. Malo (Manitoba) native is in the first year of a two-year contract he signed back on the opening day of free agency in late-July. He's set to earn $1.5 million next season and will become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.

The third rounder that Ottawa gave up to get Hamonic came from the Vancouver Canucks in a previous deal. Hamonic has another season left on his contract after this one.
