The 3ICE hockey league will begin it's inaugural season in June after being delayed a year due to COVID-19. For those who aren't familiar with 3ICE, it's a brand new three-on-three league featuring professional hockey players as well as Hall of Famers as each team's head coach.

It will consist of six teams with seven players on each team (six skaters plus one goalie), and will play in nine cities for a North American tour this summer.

On Thursday, the first five players were announced, all of whom have played in the National Hockey League at some point. Those players are David Booth (530 NHL games), Chris Bourque (51 NHL games), Chris Conner (180 NHL games), T.J. Hensick (112 NHL games), and Aaron Palushaj (68 NHL games).

In 2020, 3ICE named eight Hall of Famers as coaches: Guy Carbonneau, Grant Fuhr, Ed Johnston, John LeClair, Joe Mullen, Larry Murphy, Angela Ruggiero, and Bryan Trottier. It's unclear which of these eight will stay on as according to the league's website, only six teams will participate this summer.
