The Florida Panthers should already be considered one of the favourites heading into the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs, and the team has just managed to grab one of the biggest names on the trade market in advance of the deadline of March 21st.

According to several reports, Chiarot has been traded to the Panthers. The return is Tyler Smilanic, a 1st-round pick in 2023, and a 4th-round pick in 2022.

Chiarot was a healthy scratch for the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday night as the team faced the Arizona Coyotes. Management wanted to ensure he didn't get hurt before a deal could be made.

The 30-year-old defenceman has been with the Habs since signing there as a free agent in 2019. He'll be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
