One name that has been in the rumour mill over the last couple of weeks is Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller. The 28-year-old currently leads the Canucks in a number of statistical categories this season, putting up 50 points (18 G, 32 A) in 48 games.

The ask for Miller will be a lot. His strong, consistent play this season, mixed with the fact he has one year left on his contract after this one, meaning he's not a rental, will drive up the price to acquire him.

During an appearance on the Donnie and Dhali show on CHEK TV, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin addressed the rumours surrounding Miller and said he's not going to make a move just for the sake of making one.

"I am not going to trade a player just for the media. J.T. has been our most consistent and best player," Allvin said.

On Thursday's Edition of Insider Trading on TSN, Pierre LeBrun mentioned that the Canucks may have reeled J.T. Miller back in from the trade market.

"Depends on who you ask. Certainly, I checked with a couple NHL front offices over the past few days who feel that when they talk to Vancouver lately, it feels like J.T. Miller has been reeled back in by the Canucks. Now, we're a month away from the trade deadline, so perhaps a bit of cat and mouse, but I think the message is clear from the Vancouver Canucks to other teams, they don't feel they have to trade J.T. Miller. He's got a year-and-a-half left on his deal and this notion that J.T. Miller's worth is higher now than it would be this summer, the Canucks' front office does not believe that. They feel they can get as much for him in the summer as they can now and by the way, maybe they'll just sign him this summer, so all options are on the table. Translation is this, if you're the New York Rangers, or any other team, you have got to step up in a meaningful way to get the Canucks' attention on J.T. Miller, or else they're happy to keep him," LeBrun said.

With the National Hockey League's trade deadline nearly four weeks away, it will certainly be interesting to see what happens on the J.T. Miller front. Will a team step up and blow the Canucks out of the water with an offer for their leading scorer, or will Allvin hold onto the East Palestine (Ohio) native?
