Jacob Trouba is one of the dirtiest players in the league, and he is often involved in controversy. The New York Rangers captain may now be suspended.

In the midst of a wild game between the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes, which required double overtime to come to a conclusion, Jacob Trouba stole the show with a massive attempted hit on Martin Necas.

When Trouba came in with the elbow, he went right for Necas' head. Necas was able to duck, sending Trouba into the boards, but the clear intent was there. On Trouba's way down, he knocked Necas' head into the ice with his leg, making the play even dirtier.

Under the terms of the NHL rulebook, any intent for impact with head will be addressed, and it is hard to deny that Jacob Trouba knew what he was doing, especially considering his long history with the Department of Player Safety.

I don't know if I've ever seen a play where someone almost k***s someone else twice and themselves once, but I'm not surprised it involved Trouba

This would make a great case study for "Can you suspend someone for a missed hit?"

Intent is beyond blatant, malicious on so many levels and a borderline miracle that it didn't end up worse

If this league had any gumption, this would at minimum be a phone call. One of the dumbest things I've ever seen an NHL player attempt and he's lucky to have not destroyed himself trying it.

Do you think Jacob Trouba should be suspended for this hit on Martin Necas? If he isn't, it's hard to imagine he won't have to answer up for it in a different way in game three.
