After a disappointing finish to the 2022-23 season, the Colorado Avalanche come into this year with plenty of optimism, but unfortunately, not all news right now is good for the Avs.

A key veteran piece

Over the past two years, the Avalanche have gotten some incredible performances out of so many players en route to another Stanley Cup crown, but now, one of those unlikely heroes could be done.

At 31-years of age, there is now speculation growing that veteran defenseman Josh Manson's career may be in jeopardy, as he is dealing with plenty of lingering injury issues.

A troubling hip

The latest update on Manson isn't good, as Avalanche writer Evan Rawal revealed that he was skating on his own recently while dealing with a nasty hip injury.

Manson was skating on his own, talking to 4 people who are tracking him with a device, including a trainer. Mentioned something is uncomfortable on his hip, so they seemed to adjust something he's wearing under his pads and he said it felt good. Has since joined rest of group.

The next update is even worse, as Manson is now reportedly not skating with the team or anyone, and given his history of injuries, combined with missing 55 games a season ago, this could be bad news for the 31-year old.

Josh Manson did not skate today. Everyone else who skated yesterday was on the ice again.
