Former Bruins Captain Passes Away
The Boston Bruins announced yesterday that former captain Ed Sandford has passed away.
It is with sadness that we share Ed Sandford, who had been our oldest living Bruins Alumni member, has passed away at the age of 95.
Sandford was a part of the Bruins organization for 8 seasons.
Sandford's Hockey Life
Ed Sandford began his NHL career in 1947 and played for just under a decade retiring in 1956. In his 9 year career, he played for the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, and Chicago Blackhawks.
In his 502 career games, Sandford had 251 points. He was also a five-time all-star. Sandford was also recognized by the Bruins as one of the 100 most legendary players in franchise history.
Our condolences go out to his family.
