Yesterday, it was reported that Andrew Cogliano of the Colorado Avalanche broke his neck after a dangerous hit by Jordan Eberle.

Everyone was waiting on the NHL's Department of Player Safety to release a decision concerning a possible suspension for Eberle. After all, he broke his neck!

The DoPS once again disappointed everybody.

People were starting to wonder what was happening with Eberle, as the NHL hadn't released any statement.

Finally, yesterday evening, they said something about the case:

"We don't comment on plays on which we don't assess supplemental discipline."

That has been standard policy since the inception of the Dept. Of Player Safety in 2011. We make videos to provide detailed explanations of suspensions. Injury only comes into play AFTER a hit has been deemed suspension-worthy on its own."

The hit was "legal".

This is extremely frustrating for the Avs, as they lost an important player with a dangerous injury, and the person responsible has no consequences whatsoever.

HE BROKE HIS NECK!

This is absurd.

Gary Bettman and George Parros need to go.
