The Montreal Canadiens are still in the middle of their rebuild. As such, one wouldn't normally expect the team to be trading young players. However, one recent report indicates that that is exactly what might happen.

Canadiens Put 23-Year-Old Defenseman On Trade Block

Due to the team consistently drafted and developing defenseman well, they have run into a logjam at the position. The team currently has four defenseman aged 23 or younger on the team and they still have top prospects including David Reinbacher on the way. As such, Jordan Harris seems to be the one to have fallen out of favor with the team.

Hearing the Montreal Canadiens are shopping Jordan Harris ahead of the deadline.

Harris is a 23-year-old LHD who skates well & has 1 more year left on his deal ($1.4M). MTL's overflow of young D has made him expendable. #GoHabsGo

Are you ready to say goodbye to Jordan Harris?

Harris has played 31 games for the habs this season, putting up a goal and 6 points in the process. He has played in 106 games throughout his career so far, potting 6 goals and 24 points in total. The 5'11" defender was drafted 71st overall by the Canadiens in 2018. It appears as though he will likely be a bottom pair defenseman at the NHL level throughout his career so his trade value is not particularly high. However, some teams may still be intrigued by the possibility to add a young player via trade. Be sure to stay tuned for updates on Harris as he could be moved prior to the March 8th deadline.
