With the trade deadline looming in less than a month, teams are putting a name to the way they conduct their business. Some teams want to be called "buyers", other "sellers" and then other's are in the middle or haven't yet determined their status due to the waiting game and seeing how their team will perform in the coming weeks. Well Pittsburgh is the perfect definition for the "middle" status. GM Kyle Dubas has a decision to make with pending UFA Jake Guentzel, and time is ticking. It is still unclear what direction Dubas will be going, but if an extension isn't reached by march 8th, Guentzel may find himself in a new address.

Potential landing spot for Guentzel has been revealed

In a podcast Elliotte Friedman mentioned the idea of the Edmonton Oilers acquiring Jake Guentzel in a possible trade with Pittsburgh.

"If Guentzel is available, my opinion is that's their guy, that's the guy they'd like to get"

The idea of Guentzel to Edmonton just makes sense. He is currently thriving in Pittsburgh heading for career numbers. Jake currently has 50 points in 47 games and we can only imagine how much those numbers would rise playing with the two best players in the world Connor Mcdavid and Jake Guentzel.

After seeing the assets in the Elias Lindholm deal, it is clear the Penguins would want to build on that and more. They would want a first round pick, A prospect, top 6 forward and another asset.

Exciting times ahead, make sure to stay tuned.
