The Toronto Maple Leafs have the talent to be a contender, but if they want to be a genuine threat to the Stanley Cup, Brad Treliving needs to make some big moves ahead of the March 8 trade deadline.

NHL Insider reveals Toronto's plans for the trade deadline

According to recent reports, GM Brad Treliving isn't willing to part with the teams 2024 first-round pick for a rental in return, but if its part of a much bigger package, then his mind could certainly be changed.
32 Thoughts Podcast, on Toronto: They are willing to trade their 2024 1st but hoping to package with something instead of just a 1st for a rental.
Toronto have been linked to major help on the blue line and in net, and to get the top tier players, the Leafs need to give up some assets of value, and there's not much more valuable to opposing GM's than a first-round pick in the upcoming draft.

Who will Toronto target with that pick?

This revelation likely rules out Toronto trading their pick for a single rental, but if they can include it in a larger package, it could be moved, and this leads us back to the Calgary Flames and their wealth of moveable players.
Toronto have been linked to Calgary for some time, and with Chris Tanev, Noah Hanifin, Jacob Markstrom and potentially others on the move, it would make perfect sense if they moved that pick in order to get a massive haul of players from Treliving's former team.
