A recent report has just changed everything we thought we knew regarding the ongoing Connor Hellebuyck trade saga.

Hellebuyck Favoring NJ

According to a new report by trusted NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, Connor Hellebuyck has informed the Winnipeg Jets that he would be willing to sign a long-term extension with the New Jersey Devils, should he be traded there.

Connor Hellebuyck is willing to re-sign long-term with the New Jersey Devils, if he is traded there. Per, Pierre LeBrun.

Hellebuyck is asking for a long-term deal in the $9.5M AAV range.

While the price would certainly be high, the return would be more than worth it.

What Would it Cost?

In order to pry Hellebuyck from Winnipeg, New Jersey would likely have to give up multiple future assets. A prospect like Alexander Holtz, Luke Hughes, or Simon Nemec, plus a 1st round draft pick, would probably be where Winnipeg starts their ask.

Whether or not New Jersey is willing to pay this massive price to secure their goaltending position is unknown. Things are about to get interesting!
