Ontario recently changed their capacity limits yet again due to COVID-19, but Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk is not very happy with the current situation.

"It's my first game with empty seats," the Ottawa Senators owner told Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch on Tuesday night. "It's sad. I don't know who the people are that come up with these rules."

"They're misinformed and they're miscalculated. They should be challenged and they will be challenged."

After the omicron variant outbreak in December, the government of Ontario reduced the capacity at sporting events and entertainment to less than 50% or 1000 people.

There is planning in place to gradually bring fans back, until the restrictions are ultimately lifted on March 14. Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment is currently in discussion with the province, with hopes of lifting restrictions.

Whether or not that happens is a great question, but there is no doubt that teams are losing major money due to the reduced crowds from COVID-19.
