He was one of the first three people named to Team Canada for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing, but Alex Pietrangelo of the Vegas Golden Knights isn't ready to commit just yet. Sunday night, the defenceman said he wants more information before making a decision.

At issue is the quarantine period imposed by the Chinese government for positive COVID-19 tests. Anyone who tests positive must produce two negative tests 24 hours apart. If they are unable to do so, quarantines could last from 21 days up to five weeks.

Pietrangelo told reporters that being "potentially locked up there for five weeks plus the Olympics" is not something he's sure he wants to risk as it would mean a long time away from his family and the Golden Knights.

Pietrangelo's teammate Robin Lehner has already stated he will not be representing Team Sweden at the Games despite being selected for the team's initial roster. While no one else has talked about it publicly yet, it's a safe bet that many players are having second thoughts.

Pietrangelo, Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid were the first three players named to Team Canada. The NHL has until January 10th to withdraw without financial penalty.
