Detroit Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi was originally supposed to play in Wednesday evening's matchup against the visiting Seattle Kraken at 7:30pm, but the 26-year-old was scratched just before 7:00pm.

The Red Wings announced, via their official Twitter account, that the reason for Bertuzzi's absence is due to the fact that he's been placed on the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list.

Bertuzzi is the last remaining NHLer that is unvaccinated, so this announcement isn't exactly shocking, but with that in mind, it's important to note that being placed in protocol doesn't necessarily mean that he has tested positive. This could merely be a precautionary move.

Bertuzzi is off to a roaring start this season, notching 9 goals and adding 9 assists for 18 points through his first 20 games this season.
