During Friday's 32 Thoughts podcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman shared who he thinks could be a potential head coach replacement in Vancouver if the Canucks decide to fire Travis Green.

"I think the one that is potentially real is Claude Julien, I think that's a possibility". Friedman said.

Julien, 61, was announced today as head coach for Team Canada at the upcoming Channel One Cup as well as the Spengler Cup in late-December. He'll be joined by Bruce Boudreau and Scott Walker who will serve as assistant coaches, while Shane Doan will be the general manager.

Yesterday, Elliotte Friedman said that if the NHL decides to opt out of going to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Claude Julien would likely be Canada's head coach.

"Depending on Olympic participation, countries may need a second coaching staff. Hearing Canada will have Claude Julien at the Spengler Cup -- and Olympics if the NHL doesn't go -- with Bruce Boudreau as an assistant. (Assuming neither is hired elsewhere by then,)" Friedman said yesterday.

The Blind River, Ontario native has eighteen years of experience as a head coach in the National Hockey League for Montreal (twice), New Jersey, and Boston, the latter of whom he won a Stanley Cup with in 2011.
