I can only imagine Pierre-Luc Dubois was expecting this type of reception in his first return to Columbus. Dubois played at the Blue Jackets' Nationwide Arena Wednesday night for the first time since late January of this year, when he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in return for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic. During the game, a "Welcome Back" message was posted on the scoreboard, not just for him, but also for Riley Nash who was also playing his first game in Columbus since leaving the team after being traded to Toronto, and then signing as a free agent with Winnipeg. Dubois, who did not leave the team on good terms, was showered with boos from the crowd, while Nash received cheers. Both seemed to get a good laugh out of it.
Laine was not at the game. He has left the team to attend the funeral of his father and attend to family matters in Finland. You can read more about that below.
