With the Montreal Canadiens seemingly in turmoil to start the season, everyone is looking for answers as to what's going on. Much has been made of the fact that the team is sorely missing both Carey Price and Shea Weber not only for their play on the ice, but their leadership presence. But, one media outlet appears to be taking aim at a different reason for the Canadiens play not only this season so far, but for several past seasons as well.

Monday night, the French-language RDS show L'Antichambre will discuss Montreal assistant GM Trevor Timmins and his role with the team. One statistic the show decided to throw out before the discussion comes as a bit of a surprise.

It's often been noted that Timmins is in charge of amatuer scouting with the Canadiens and has been since joining the team in the early 2000s.

"Since the arrival of Trevor Timmins in 2003, the Canadiens are the only team not to have drafted a player who has scored 70 points in one season, either in Montreal or with another team afterwards."

That's eye-opening, to say the least. Perhaps that will change with the addition of Cole Caufield to the team, but that's not a definite. Caufield is now in Laval after a slow start to 2021-22, although it should be noted that he's only 20 and has plenty of time to develop. That said, one of the biggest issues for the Canadiens for years has been a lack of scoring. Is that Timmins fault? One would think it has to at least be partially on him.
