It appears as though any rumours that have come out stating that the Toronto Maple Leafs and pending UFA goaltender Jack Campbell have begun contract discussions are a bit premature.

On Friday, Campbell's agent, Kurt Overhardt, told Postmedia that talks have not yet begun, stating that the only thing that Campbell is concerned with at this point is playing hockey.

«Whoever said we're talking is full of crap,» said Overhardt. "That's so inaccurate. I can tell you that there's been no material discussions (with the Leafs). Jack just wants to play hockey. That's it.»

Campbell himself dispelled the rumours earlier this week, stating that he wasn't engaged in any talks relating to an extension. He did, however, confirm that he loves the city of Toronto and would like to remain there.

«The bottom line is it's frickin' November," concluded Campbell's agent. "People need to relax and let him play hockey.»

Campbell is in the final year of a two-year, $3.3M contract, which carries a $1.65M AAV. With his stellar play during his time in Toronto, it's probably safe to suggest that his next deal will be considerably larger.
