The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Friday afternoon that they've fined Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk $5000 for high-sticking Dallas Stars defenceman John Klingberg. The fine goes directly to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred just nearly eight minutes into Thursday night's game between Calgary and Dallas. Tkachuk was beside the Stars' net as the puck was being rimmed around the boards. As Klingberg tries to go retrieve the puck, Tkachuk clips him right in the head with his stick. The Flames forward received a two-minute minor on the play for high-sticking.

The Scottsdale, Arizona native has appeared in all ten of Calgary's games this season, tallying seven points (five goals, two assists), ten penalty minutes, and is a plus-three.
