Per Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the Vegas Golden Knights and Buffalo Sabres have picked up talks over the last few days on a deal that would send Jack Eichel to Vegas.

The Golden Knights have been one of the most consistent names linked to Eichel this year, and as they say, where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

The Eichel camp had submitted a compilation of medical opinions in support of his preferred neck surgery last week, with rumours of a possible grievance coming down the pipeline should the Sabres not oblige his request for a trade. The Golden Knights are rumoured to be among the teams who have already approved an artificial disc replacement surgery for the former Sabres captain should they acquire him.

The Golden Knights have had a rough start to the season, carrying an uncharacteristic 1-4-0 record through 5 games, though injuries to key players have undoubtedly played a huge role in their early struggles.

The Golden Knights are currently without the services of forwards Alex Tuch, Max Pacioretty and captain Mark Stone. Tuch and Pacioretty are expected to miss significant time, while Stone is listed as day-to-day.

While acquiring Jack Eichel would not be an immediate fix, it would certainly give the Golden Knights a shot in the arm if and when Eichel has recovered from the experimental surgery.

In terms of what the Golden Knights have to offer - first and second round picks in each of the next three drafts, should the Sabres be willing to accept a deal heavy on futures, as well as highly touted prospect Payton Krebs. Of course, the Golden Knights would have to either move some money in another deal, or send it back the other way to Buffalo. The Sabres are not interested in retaining salary on Eichel.

Eichel has 4 years remaining on his current deal after this season, at $10M per season.
