The Montreal Canadiens put their 0-5-0 start behind them on Saturday night as they blew out the Detroit Red Wings by a score of six to one. It was a night of firsts for many on the Canadiens roster including Mathieu Perreault, Christian Dvorak, Mike Hoffman, David Savard, and Sami Niku.

Perreault led the way by recording his third career hat trick. Dvorak and Hoffman also scored their first goals in a Canadiens uniform. Meanwhile, defencemen David Savard and Sami Niku recorded their first points as a Montreal Canadien. Savard had one assist and Niku had two assists in his debut.

"You don't even dream of that; you dream of playing in the NHL, maybe playing for the Montreal Canadiens..." Perreault told reporters following the game.

Montreal will now look to bring this momentum on their upcoming road trip, which begins on Tuesday night in Seattle. They'll also face the San Jose Sharks (Thursday), Los Angeles Kings (October 30th), before wrapping up their West Coast swing on Halloween against the Anaheim Ducks.
