The Columbus Blue Jackets received some positive news on Saturday with regard to forward Max Domi, who underwent shoulder surgery earlier this offseason.

As was reported by The Athletic's Aaron Portzline, Domi was on the ice for the second time in as many days, taking part in drills and appears to be ahead of schedule in his recovery.

Domi, of course, donned a red no-contact sweater, as his original timeline for return was closer to November or December.

Despite the encouraging signs, Blue Jackets head coach Brad Larsen felt the need to temper expectations relating to Domi a bit following practice.

«We're not going to rush it. I know he wants to come back, but we have to be real smart about this and make sure when he does come back he's ready to go.»

When asked whether or not he felt that Domi might be good to go for the team's season-opener on October 14th, Larsen indicated that "that would be pushing it".

Domi appeared in all but two games for the Blue Jackets last season, racking up 24 points and 75 penalty minutes in 54 games.
