Robin Lehner is undeniably one of the most outspoken players in the NHL, a league which is often criticized for not having enough personality.

Most enjoy Lehner for this exact reason, and on Friday night he provided some entertainment for fans when he took to Twitter to call out both the NHLPA and his former team, the Buffalo Sabres, for their current situation involving Jack Eichel.

«Where is the NHLPA and all NHL players in all this attacks on our freedom of choice? Jack situation is crazy to me.. also people getting attacked by journalist that hides behind freedom of speech to trash peoples freedom of choice. When does the hypocrisy end? #lifeaftercareer"

He followed that up soon after with a Tweet directed towards both the NHL and the Sabres.

«NHL is it good to keep a generational player out of the league? His body his choice.. Do what's right Sabres.»

It is hard to argue where Lehner is coming from here, as this situation with Eichel is getting flat out ridiculous. At some point, you think they would allow the player to get the surgery he wants in order to not only pursue his career, but also allow him to live a pain free life afterward. Instead, they seem to think they have the players' well being in their interest more than the player himself, which is as bizarre as it sounds. Hopefully this situation gets resolved in the form of a trade in the near future and Eichel can get back to playing hockey.
