Ottawa Senators prospect Ridly Greig had found himself in a precarious position on Monday, earning a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety and a violent cross-check to the face of Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois during Sunday's preseason meeting between the Jets and the Sens in Winnipeg.

The incident occurred at the midway point in the second period and earned Greig a 5-minute major penalty, a 10-minute misconduct that got him ejected from the contest.

On Monday, the league responded by issuing a one-game suspension to Greig in the preseason and a one-game suspension in the regular season.

The 19-year-old was selected by the Sens with the 28th-overall selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
