With preseason hockey in full swing, it would seem as though the Ottawa Senators have made very little progress in getting RFA forward Brady Tkachuk locked up with a new contract.

According to a report from TSN's Darren Dreger on Monday, while the Sens are pushing for a long-term contract, with the original rumour being 8 years at $8M per season, the Tkachuk camp appears to be more interested in a bridge deal.

"For whatever reason the Tkachuk camp just isn't interested in [a long-term deal] ... I wonder if again the Tkachuk family, hand-in-hand with Newport Sports aren't pushing in that direction with a bridge."

A bridge deal would allow Tkachuk to make more money in the grand scheme of things - and as we saw with his older brother Matthew - Brady's new deal would likely be backloaded to maximize his qualifying offer coming out of his final season.

Tkachuk has been in Michigan, skating with fellow RFA's Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson as the trio awaits traction on their new contracts.
