As everyone knows by now, the Montreal Canadiens will be without their captain Shea Weber for the entire 2021-22 season due to knee, foot, and ankle injuries. He sustained the injuries last season but decided to play through them, helping the Canadiens return to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1993.

On Wednesday, the Canadiens showed up to training camp for medicals but Weber was absent. He was in Montreal last week for his physical according to TVA's Renaud Lavoie. The expectation is that Weber will be placed on long-term injured reserve when the NHL season begins on October 12th.

"Shea Weber is not at @CanadiensMTL training camp. He was in town last week for his physical exams and you have to expect his name will be place on the LTIR. I'm told he'll be in BC for a good part of the season but he should fly to MTL occasionally," Lavoie said in a tweet on Wednesday evening.

The Canadiens will miss Weber's leadership during the season, but will have plenty of guys to lean on for guidance such as Brendan Gallagher, Jeff Petry, and Carey Price among others.
