The Ottawa Senators appear to be attempting to create some competition in training camp this week, as Sens writer Bruce Garrioch is reporting that forward Tyler Ennis is coming back to Ottawa on a professional try-out.

Ennis had spent most of the 2019-20 season in Ottawa before being dealt to the Edmonton Oilers, playing 61 games for the Sens that season, finding the twine 14 times and adding 19 assists for 33 points over that span.

Ennis had spent last season with the Edmonton Oilers, appearing in 30 games and recording just 9 points.

Per Garrioch, the Senators simply appreciated what Ennis was able to do for the team during his time there and are amenable to the idea of allowing him the opportunity to earn a roster spot during training camp.

Ennis, 31, has racked up 322 points in 643 career NHL games.
