Few recent picks have had as much bad luck as Sam Morin of the Philadelphia Flyers. After being selected 11th overall in 2013, Morin has managed just 29 games in his NHL career at this point, with knee injuries playing a large role in his absence. Now, it's being reported that Morin has suffered yet another significant knee injury - this would be his third - and is going back on long-term injured reserve.

"Hearing some bad news out of the @NHLFlyers," said Anthony SanFilippo, writer for Crossingbroad.com. "Sources have confirmed that Samuel Morin has once again suffered a significant knee injury. Expect a formal announcement in the coming days. Such a shame for such a good guy who has been through so much."

Morin suffered a season-ending torn ACL during the 2018 Calder Cup playoffs while with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL. 19 months later, Morin tore the same ACL again. He returned to the Flyers near the end of January of 2021, but switched positions. Morin, who spent his entire pro career as a defenceman, drew into the lineup as a left wing. He would return to the AHL as a defenceman in February, but managed to get called up to the Flyers again on March 25th. His only goal of the season with Philadelphia was the game winner to break a four-game losing streak on March 27th.

Morin was not picked in the first round for his offensive abilities. At six-foot-seven and close to 230 pounds, he was brought in to add grit to the team. Unfortunately, injuries have really derailed his career, and it looks like the 26-year-old is going to miss another large chunk of time.
