With at least one RFA in Ottawa reportedly unhappy with how negotiations are going in Brady Tkachuk, another in Drake Batherson has earned himself a hefty pay increase with the Sens.

Per the team's official website, Batherson has agreed to a 6-year, $29.85M deal with the Sens, which carries an AAV of $4.975M.

Batherson, 23, recorded 34 points in 56 games for the Senators last season, taking on a much larger role in his third season and receiving more opportunity with the team in the top six.

Senators GM Pierre Dorion issued the following statement regarding the signing of one of his top forwards:

"Drake represents an integral component of our future at forward. Dating to his first pro season, he has steadily progressed to the point where he is now widely recognized as a bonafide top line NHL winger. He possesses a strong ability to play at both ends of the ice, is a key powerplay contributor and someone we expect to be a prominent player for us for several years to come."

Batherson's deal will see a gradual incline in base salary over the term of his deal, earning just $2.5M this season and up to $6.55M I'm 2026-27.
