The 2021-22 season is set to get underway in about six and a half weeks and a good chunk of the league's players haven't been fully vaccinated.

According to Joe Pompliano of readhuddleup.com, the NHL has the lowest vaccination rate among the major sports leagues in North America. The WNBA leads the way at 99%, MLS at 95%, NFL at 93%, NBA at 90%, MLB at roughly 86% and the NHL sits in last place at 85%.

Currently there is no vaccine mandate in the NHL, but Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly believes that all players should be. Talks with the NHLPA are ongoing over a potential vaccine mandate.

"We believe all players should be vaccinated. Any mandate would have to be collectively bargained with the NHLPA," Daly said to Patrick Johnston of The Province.
