The EIHL season begins in a matter of weeks and one of their teams, the Belfast Giants, made a big splash to bolster their blueline. Belfast announced on Monday that they've signed 2012 fourth overall pick in the NHL draft, Griffin Reinhart, to a contract for the 2021-22 season.

Reinhart, 27, has played 37 games in the NHL with the New York Islanders (who drafted him in 2021) and the Edmonton Oilers. In those 37 games, he had two assists, 26 penalty minutes, and was a -5.

The North Vancouver, British Columbia native has spent the past two seasons overseas, 2019-20 in the KHL with Kunlun Red Star and 2020-21 with Iserlohn Roosters in the DEL. In the DEL, Reinhart had 11 points (3 G, 8 A), 10 penalty minutes, and was a +3 in 22 games.

Belfast will open their 2021-22 season on September 25th against the Dundee Stars in the Challenge Cup.
