The Carolina Hurricanes seem dead-set on living up to their nickname "buncha jerks." After tendering an offer sheet to Montreal Canadiens restricted free agent Jesperi Kotkaniemi that contained several references to the offer sheet Montreal made to Canes Star Sebastian Aho two years ago, the team's social media account is now going after pundits writing about it.

Jack Todd did an editorial for the Montreal Gazette calling the Kotkaniemi offer sheet "bush league" and likening it to "a bunch of Grade 5 boys trying to see who can stand farthest from the urinal — and not giving a damn who gets splashed in the process."

In return, the Hurricanes Twitter account retweeted the article with the response "Guess we made a splash."

In fairness, Todd is not a hard target. He has blocked countless numbers of Montreal fans on Twitter for calling him out for some really bad takes. He also tends to criticize the Habs more than any fan of any other team could. That said, Carolina seems intent on getting the most out of this whole situation. Montreal has yet to say whether it will match Carolina's offer of $6.1 million for one season, or let Kotkaniemi walk and take the first and third round picks as compensation.
