One year ago, many scouts and executives around the National Hockey League thought that Finnish forward Aatu Raty would be the consensus number one pick in the 2021 draft. Unfortunately, due to poor performances with Karpat in Finland's top division, Liiga, his draft stock fell, and wasn't taken until late in the second round by the New York Islanders.

Just hours after the Islanders selected him, Raty had the game of his life at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Michigan. Raty scored FOUR goals for Finland in their 6-2 win today against their rivals, Sweden.

Being drafted where he did (52nd overall) probably frustrated Raty, and he went out in today's game wanting to prove the other 31 general managers in the NHL wrong.

Raty is expected to return to Karpat (Liiga) for the 2021-22 season, and more than likely will play for Finland at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in December after not being selected to their roster for the 2021 tournament.
