Several of the top contenders around the NHL are reportedly interested in Mikko Rantanen as the Hurricanes debate moving him ahead of the trade deadline.

Last month, the Colorado Avalanche shocked the hockey world by trading Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes in a blockbuster deal.

Since then, things have gone very well for the Avs, as Martin Necas, the key part of the return, has been on fire with his new team.

Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, things have not gone so well as Rantanen has just two points through his first six games with the club.

As a result, the team is understandably upset with his performance, leading to rumors that he could get flipped before the trade deadline.

After all, Rantanen is not expected to re-sign in Carolina this summer.

In fact, one Canadian team is reportedly willing to offer Rantanen a king's ransom to sign with them in free agency, so regardless, it seems like he is in for a big pay day.

That being said, if the Hurricanes do decide to move on from Rantanen, we now know where he could end up.

The Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights, New Jersey Devils, and Edmonton Oilers are reportedly the top teams eyeing the goal-scoring right-winger.

All of these teams would be a good fit for Rantanen as he looks to win his second career Stanley Cup.

This season the 28-year-old has 26 goals and 66 points in 55 games. He has 288 goals and 683 points in 625 career regular-season NHL contests.

Whichever team lands him next, be it through trade or in free agency, will be adding one of the very best wingers in the world, which is a move that could put any contender over the top.
