Bloodcurdling Scene as NFL Prospect Fernando Carmona Gives Opponent Gruesome Intentional Injury
Yesterday the football world witnessed a shocking and despicable act by NFL Draft hopeful Fernando Carmona of the Arkansas Razorbacks against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
With the holiday season comes Bowl Season in college football and over this past weekend several teams played their final game of the season including the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Arkansas faced off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Liberty Bowl hosted in Memphis, Tennessee.
While this game was supposed to be a fun competition between two teams celebrating their accomplishments of the season things quickly took an ominous turn during the game.
After a play with Arkansas' offense on the field several players were down on the ground due to a tackling scrum.
As one Texas Tech player tried to get up Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona stepped on the player's ankle with what looks like malicious intent.
On the play Carmona was not penalized but he would go on to face immense backlash online from fans and media members.
The incident has caught the attention of the entire sports world and has been used as a moment to remind young athletes about sportsmanship and where the line is between competitive and dirty play.
This afternoon Carmona himself took to social media to explain his actions.

This evening the Arkansas offensive lineman took to X to apologize for his actions and explain himself.
While Carmona's apology does seem sincere the damage has already likely been done some NFL teams could see his dirty style of play as a reason to take him off of their draft boards.
As the Draft approaches it will be interesting to see if he faces further scrutiny about this incident and any other potential incidents that may have gone unnoticed this year.
