Post-game press conferences have been a point of contention recently, with coaches like Patrick Roy and John Tortorella making waves. Now, Martin St. Louis is the focal point of post-game moments.

Over the last two weeks, Patrick Roy opted to break NHL rules by not addressing the media after a New York Islanders loss to the Florida Panthers, and Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella decided to end his post-game press conference after his loss to the Carolina Hurricanes after only 25 seconds.

Now, Martin St. Louis is in the centre of a coach press conference controversy, luckily, as the 'victim', instead of the perpetrator. In the Canadiens post-game press conference following the team's loss to the Calgary Flames, one journalist went too far, asking Martin St. Louis about his alcohol consumption after losses.

Martin St. Louis was asked if he had a drink after a defeat:

'Are we going to talk about my alcohol consumption? *laughs* I don't think I'll use alcohol to get over it - but I'll tell you; beers taste better after a victory!'

Whether or not you deem alcohol to be a taboo topic or not, this is not the style of question that should be asked in a post-game interview; what type of journalistic column is being written with that info?

It is good to know more personal stuff about the players and staff on the teams we love, but asking them a question that will clearly be deemed inappropriate is not the move - that journalist needs to be better.
