The Gatineau Olympiques forward Justin Blais who got injured in a terrifying on-ice incident sent a message to fans on social media.

During a Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League game between the Gatineau Olympiques and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, Justin Blais got involved in a scrum and had to leave the ice on a stretcher after a scary injury.

According to journalist Mikael Lalancette, Blais fell head-first on the ice and began convulsing. After getting assistance from the medical unit, he left the game on a stretcher. With an 8-2 score and only two minutes left in the third period, the referees ended the game, sending all players to their locker rooms.

After the game, Blais was sent to the hospital last night, and no further updates were made on his status until now.

His team posted a picture of him at the hospital, with a message, thanking all the fans for their kind words:

"With his consent, Justin Blais wanted to thank our fans and everyone in the QMJHL for the kind words. ❤️"

The player is set to be eligible for the 2026 NHL Draft. If he decides to pursue a professional hockey career, the 17-year-old defenseman will need to overcome this adversity and do all the right things to come back on the ice to help his team.

In 12 games this season, he scored two points, tallied 14 penalty minutes, and had a -6 goal differential with a struggling team, who's currently dead last in the QMJHL standings, with a 2-13-1 record.
