Head coach Kris Knoblauch shared an injury update on the Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid after he had to leave last night's game.

After a disappointing start to the season, the Oilers were back on the ice last night to face the Columbus Blue Jackets. Edmonton lost 6-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets and are now at the sixth rank of the Pacific Division. Unfortunately, they lost much more than the game, as their captain, Connor
McDavid had to leave the ice following an awkward collision with the boards.

Early in the first period, McDavid fell as he tried to enter the offensive zone, trying to reach the puck before defenseman Ivan Provorov.

After the period, the organization revealed that McDavid wouldn't return to the game.

Here's the Oilers' official statement, confirming McDavid would be out for the rest of the night:

After the game, Kris Knoblauch held a press conference in which he talked about the tough loss and McDavid's lower-body injury.

About the captain, the coach stated that he will be going back to Edmonton to go through further tests:

"Head Coach Kris Knoblauch says #Oilers captain Connor McDavid will be travelling back to Edmonton to get evaluated after leaving tonight's game with a lower-body injury."

The Oilers are set to face the Predators on Thursday in Nashville before heading back home. It would be surprising to see McDavid in action, as he returned to Edmonton.

Updates on McDavid's health will follow.
