A roster move has been made by the Seattle Kraken after what appeared to be a minor injury to star defenseman Vince Dunn turned out to be worse than first thought

Just a few games into the 2024-25 NHL regular season, and the Seattle Kraken are dealing with a long-term injury to one of their star players. After initially saying he was day-to-day, the Seattle Kraken have now placed blueliner Vince Dunn on long-term injured reserve and he is facing an extended absence.

In Vince Dunn's absence, the Seattle Kraken have recalled defenseman Cale Fleury, who is off to a hot start in the AHL with three goals in three games.

With the Seattle Kraken opting for LTIR, that means Vince Dunn is not eligible to return to the lineup for at least 24 days, or 10 games. That would put him back with the team for a Nov. 12 matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets, provided he has recovered. Dunn was hurt in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers last Thursday.

Vince Dunn was off to a good start with the Seattle Kraken, netting a goal and 2 assists in four games. His absence will certainly be felt by the team. Meanwhile, the Kraken recently gave a a shocking $25 million contract to goaltender Joey Daccord, in addition to having netminder Philipp Grubauer under contract making $5.9 million per season. Shortly after, the team gave Jordan Eberle the captain's C for his locker room leadership. The Kraken currently have a record of 4-2-0, and take on the struggling Colorado Avalanche tonight.
