The NHL's salary cap continues to rise with the business doing very well, and now he has projected another increase which will help Jeremy Swayman in a big way.

With the introduction of two new NHL teams and a relocation team in the past seven years, the NHL is doing better business than we've ever seen before, with an all-time high team salary cap of $88 million for the 2024/25 campaign. Now, Commissioner Gary Bettman has revealed a prediction for next season, stating that he expects the salary cap to rise once more, revealing the early number as $92.5 million, an increase of almost $5 million.

That report comes from TSN's Pierre LeBrun, and given the increased fan interest and overall business in the last few years, it's no surprise that the league's revenue and salary cap continue to rise. This will benefit all of the players around the NHL, but especially Jeremy Swayman, who is currently in a battle with the Boston Bruins to get the contract he believes he deserves ahead of the new season.

Swayman is reportedly seeking $8.5 million per season over eight years, and with the Bruins upping their offer to $7.8 million, they are getting close to finally closing on a deal.

With the cap expected to increase by $4.5 million, or perhaps more with the league likely to give a conservative prediction, Swayman should now be justified in asking for the amount of money he has, as he proved himself on the biggest stage in the Stanley Cup Playoffs a year ago. Only time will truly tell whether this report changes anything or not for the 25-year old goaltender, but with his production in the last few years and his strong bargaining position, it's safe to say that with the increased salary cap, the chances of Boston meeting his demands has now gone up.
