Utah HC has taken drastic measures with concession prices in a bid to lure new fans to the Delta Center to discover NHL hockey and to become fans of the game
One of the biggest drawback to attending any major sporting event is the concession prices. Simple things like a slice of pizza, plate of nachos, or even just a drink, can cost insane prices, with little recourse for fans who want to have a memorable night. The NHL's newest team, Utah HC, is looking to change that in a bid to have hockey gain a foothold in a new market.
"The $3 fan-friendly concessions - popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, and Farr's ice cream bowls - can be purchased throughout the arena at various designated vendors including, but not limited to, Craft Shops, Tenders, Summit Snacks, and Farr's Ice Cream stations. The $2 Dasani water bottles will be available at all vendors."
I'm not sure you'll find even comparable prices at any other NHL rink. let alone lower. This is certainly a huge step by Utah HC to possibly get more fans in the door, and to hopefully fare better than the Arizona Coyotes, the team that preceded it. The Delta Center holds just over 11,000 fans, not a big arena by NHL standards. Ryan and Ashley Smith, owners of SEG, have a vision for Salt Lake City's downtown which includes a new, larger home for Utah HC and the Utah Jazz.
"I want the whole state holding up trophies," Ryan Smith said. "If that happens, which we're pretty confident it's going to, everyone's a part of it, that's how we feel. This is a labor of love."
