The Buffalo Sabres and the Columbus Blue Jackets prospects got the season started with an amazing fight.

Rookie camps are well underway in the NHL, and we already have a few highlights to report.
Fans of the Buffalo Sabres and the Columbus Blue Jackets got a first glimpse of their prospects in action.
Notably, the Sabres sent five first-round picks onto the ice for the game: Konsta Helenius (2024, 14th overall), Noah Ostlund (2022, 16th overall), Jiri Kulich (2022, 28th overall), Isak Rosen (2021, 14th overall), and Ryan Johnson (2019, 31st overall). As for the Blue Jackets, we got the chance to see two first-round picks: Denton Mateychuk (2022, 12th overall) and Corson Ceulemans (2021, 25th overall).
During the game, tensions escalated, which led to two fights between players.
First, Sabres' Ty Cheveldayoff dropped the gloves against Nick DeAngelis in the third period.

Later, when the Sabres were protecting a 3-1 lead, defenseman Jack Bodin got the upper hand on Mael Lavigne.

During rookie camps, players look for any possible way to impress the coaching staff, and fighting is often used to get their attention.
Fortunately, none of the players seem injured after the fights and should be able to continue to compete in the rookie camp.
