Thatcher Demko has been rehabbing from a major injury suffered during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and now a new report has confirmed the injury is unfixable.

The Vancouver Canucks season came to an unfortunate end after they lost to the Edmonton Oilers. A big reason for their series loss was the injury that Thatcher Demko suffered in round one against the Nashville Predators.
Since being injured the recovery process for Thatcher Demko has been fairly murky. Fans and media have been left in the dark about his prognosis and potential return. Today that all changed as Elliotte Friedman gave an update but it won't be what fans want to hear.

Elliotte Friedman confirms that Thatcher Demko's injury is unfixable

In a new report during his 32 Thoughts segment, Elliotte Friedman spoke about Thatcher Demko. During his remarks, Elliotte Friedman
The best piece of information I've been given is quite simply, he's going to have to learn to play with this, revealed Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. It's not something that can be fixed with surgery but it's something that he's going to have to learn to play through and can play through

Despite this terrifying news, there is a silver lining for the Vancouver Canucks, Thatcher Demko, and fans. While the injury cannot be fixed Thatcher Demko is expected to return in the near future.
Right now I don't know that he's gonna be ready for the start of the season, admitted Friedman. What I don't get the sense is that the Canucks are worried that he's gonna be out half the year.

In his absence, the Vancouver Canucks will likely turn to Arturs Silovs who made appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. He will most likely be backed up by newcomer Jiri Patera who has NHL experience with the Vegas Golden Knights.
As the NHL season begins in around a month from now the Vancouver Canucks will need to hang on in the absence of Thatcher Demko. Once he returns they need to hope he is still able to handle being the main starter of a Stanley Cup Contender.
