Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman remains unsigned with only weeks to go before the season starts, and he just received a disrespectful contract offer.

Jeremy Swayman's situation has been one of the hottest topics in Boston this summer, especially after Linus Ullmark was traded to the Ottawa Senators. Surprisingly, nothing has been signed with Swayman to this date. Now, we may have an idea as to why that is. Ryan Whitney has reported that the Bruins did, in fact, offer Swayman a four-year deal worth just $6.2 million per year, which is shockingly low.
Jeremy Swayman, 25, appeared in 44 games last season with a .916 save percentage and a 2.53 GAA. If Swayman doesn't sign a deal soon, the future between the pipes for the Bruins is decidedly cloudier without both star netminders they had last season. If that wasn't enough, Ryan Whitney also mentioned that the Bruins haven't returned Swayman's calls in three weeks now, and with the 2024-25 season kicking off next month, this scenario is gradually becoming a major cause for concern among fans in Boston.
While Jeremy Swayman isn't considered the top goaltender in the league, his proposed contract would have him ranked as the eighth highest-paid at his position based on annual salary. Still, it's $1.5 million less annually than what Juuse Saros of the Nashville Predators is getting. It's also just $200k more than Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues is making, and many consider Swayman to be a significantly better goalie. So, with that in mind, it isn't a surprise that he's feeling undervalued by this offer.
There have been rumblings of a tiff between Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins since his arbitration case last year, and if a deal doesn't get done shortly, Boston could be looking at a rather significant problem on its hands with the regular season nearly around the corner. This is definitely something to continue to keep an eye on.
