Sean Monahan is a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets and was looking forward to being reunited with Johnny Gaudreau, and his recent comments are tragic.

It is with great sadness that we have to report on the tragic death of Johnny Gaudreau, who, together with his brother Matthew, died when they got hit by a car caused by a drunk driver on Thursday night. The sad incident sent shockwaves through the Gaudreau family and the entire hockey community, putting both in deep mourning.
But it is all coming back now as fans suddenly remember Sean Monahan in light of his emotional words on the 'What Chaos!' show just days ago. During the show, he spoke about the deepness of his friendship with Johnny Gaudreau, and how he was looking forward to their children growing up together and being lifelong friends. That dream is still potentially possible, but for Johnny Gaudreau, it will never be realized. As we reflect back to those comments now, they seem all that much more heartbreaking.
The man behind the tragedy, Sean Higgins, was charged with death by auto and driving under the influence, which could put him in prison for as long as 40 years. As the legal procedures get underway, the hockey fraternity stands as one, hoping the wheels of justice will turn swiftly and righteously.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Sean Monahan, having lost such a close friend and teammate, and to the entire Gaudreau family during this unimaginable time. Hopefully, support and care will be provided as they navigate this tragedy.
