The Edmonton Oilers have moved not one but two defenseman in recent times, and now, they appear to have lined up a replacement according to a top insider.

After falling just short of the Stanley Cup in 2024, the Edmonton Oilers have been reloading this summer as they once again looking to chase hockeys ultimate crown, and it's led to them making some huge moves. Not all of those moves have been additions however, as they have moved Cody Ceci in recent days, as well as losing both Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway via offer sheet, as they were signed by the St. Louis Blues.
They have added both Victor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner however, and now, according to top insider Frank Seravalli, they have a trade in place to add a defenseman to replace the loss of both Broberg and Ceci.
"There's other things Edmonton is looking at, I think including a potential trade that could shake things up a little bit more than just the PTO route.

All I know is they have different options on the table"
Sure, the team landed Ty Emberson in the return for Ceci, but with the way the roster is currently constructed, Troy Stecher is set to play significant minutes, and for a team chasing a Stanley Cup with a suspect defense already beyond their top pair, a move is necessary. Seravalli never names a player or even a team that is involved in the trade, but with speculation going on for weeks over a potential defenseman that the team could acquire, it's safe to say that it could be anyone as the team look to make one more addition before training camp.
