After much thought, it appears that disgruntled Leafs forward Nick Robertson has confirmed his plans to play for a different team and still wants out of Toronto.

Nick Robertson's desire to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs hasn't changed, even with the potential for more playing time on the left wing this season.
During an appearance on "First Up" with Aaron Korolnek and Carlo Colaiacovo, TSN hockey insider Chris Johnston highlighted that the unresolved Nick Robertson situation is still looming as the Leafs eye new left-wing options.
«I think, obviously, at this stage of the summer, the Leafs are still working through what happens with Nick Robertson, but there's a pretty clear path for him to be part of the mix at left wing, to potentially have a role that exceeds what he's had in the past," Johnston said. "But at this stage, Nick Robertson doesn't seem inclined to sign in Toronto and is sticking to the idea that he'd like to play somewhere else. And so I think they have to kind of sort that out first or as part of this.»
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman recently revealed that Toronto is exploring left-wing alternatives. Meanwhile, Johnston had previously reported in June that Nick Robertson informed the Leafs of his intention not to renew his contract, requesting a trade instead.
Drafted 53rd overall by the Maple Leafs in 2019, Nick Robertson's tenure in Toronto has been rocky. After making his debut during the 2020 NHL playoff bubble, Robertson has rotated between the Maple Leafs and their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, due to inconsistent performance and injuries.
Last season, tensions escalated when salary cap issues led to Nick Robertson being sent down to the Marlies for 10 days. Instead of reporting, he chose to practice with the Leafs' injured return-to-play squad. He later expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation.
Now 22, Nick Robertson has accumulated 17 goals and 17 assists over 87 regular-season games in his four seasons with Toronto. As a restricted free agent, he has the option to sign an offer sheet with another team, but the Leafs have the right to match it. He must sign a contract by December 1st to remain eligible to play in the NHL this season, or he will have to sit out the entire year.
