The Boston Bruins are still without their star goaltender Jeremy Swayman signed as training camp approaches. Head coach Jim Montgomery has now commented.

Jeremy Swayman's consistent elite performance as Linus Ullmark's backup, then 1B, and then 1A led the Boston bruins to trading the 2023 Vezina Trophy winner to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a first round pick (which became 6 foot 7 centreman Dean Letourneau) and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.

This was seen as a massive show of faith for the Boston Bruins' young goaltender who was taken in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL draft. With both sides opting not to seek arbitration, the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman are now at a contract standstill with the season rapidly approaching.

This, however, is not worrying Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery, who is confident the young goaltender will be ready and signed for the regular season. In fact, he believes there's "no doubt".

"I don't have anything to do with the contract situation. That's not part of my job detail. My job is my connection with the players, and how we're going to be good this year. And I have no doubt Jeremy Swayman will be a Bruin at the start of camp, and we'll be ready to go."

- Jim Montgomery

Whether or not Jim Montgomery is right is yet to be known, but the Boston Bruins only hold $8.64-million in cap space after their blockbuster signings of Elias Lindholm (7 x 7.75 million), and Nikita Zadorov (6 x 5 million). Gone are the days of Bruins stars like Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand taking less to keep the team competitive!
